Almost all of class of 93 students who finished the courses signed the IHG's ongoing petition requesting government officials to be made aware of the Georgist remedy and to implement feasibility studies. Of the 21 "Superior" level graduates of the November course, almost all expressed interest in attending the follow-up volunteer participation meeting which will be held later in January 2002. This lastest course was mainly taught by the Director with the help of two graduates of the IHG's first teacher training course.

IHG Workshops in Managua Universities
Managua, December 20, 2001 -- During the months of November and December, the IHG facilitated intensive workshops at two private universities, Martin Luther King and Universidad de Ciencias Comerciales. The reception was positive and the Dean of the MLK school expressed interest in offering a course on Georgist economics for credit through their university. Utilizing the energy and expertise of visiting Georgist expert Jeffrey Smith, the IHG also was able to make preliminary presentations to other universities (UNAN RUCFA, UTN), business organizations (COSEP, INPYME, CONAPI, FIDEG), leaders of the Sandinista and Conservative parties.

Hildebrando Reyes (L), Jeffrey Smith (R), and other IHG volunters presented the two university workshops.

IHG Seeks Independent Location in Managua
Managua, January 10, 2002 -- Because of lack of funding the IHG has shelved its plan of purchasing a permanent site and is seeking to rent a spacious facility located in a central area of Managua. The desired facility will include ample classroom, meeting, and office space as well as space for a library/bookstory and lounge. Currently, the IHG is without an adequate facility to house and support the multiple activities in process. Most IHG projects are therefore on hold during the traditional holiday months of late December to mid-January until the new location is found and adequate funding established to sign a lease.
